The 1st Camelon Company of The Boys' Brigade was based in St John's Church Camelon and the 2nd Falkirk Company of The Boys' Brigade was based in Irving Parish Church. When in December 2003 the two churches entered into union to become Camelon Parish Church both companies entered into the spirit of the union by deciding to merge as the 1st Camelon Company of The Boys' Brigade. Each company brought its own unique strengths to the newly amalgamated company. The officers and boys are enjoying the increased range of activities now made possible as a result of the increased numbers. The officers currently serving are: Captain, Janice Arbuckle; Anchor Boys, Craig Jamieson; Junior Section, Peter Marshall and Company Section, Steven Robertson. Anyone interested in joining the Company or contributing to its work should contact any of the officers through the Church Office on 01324 870011 or by e-mail. |

Parents' Night was held on Thursday 29th May and a very enjoyable evening was had by all those present. During the evening Alan Ritchie was presented with his well merited Queen's Badge. The Inspecting Officer was Tom Penman of Forth Valley Fire and Rescue Service.. In his address to the boys Mr Penman stressed the importance of organisations such as the Boys Brigade and how important their serrvice was as an indicator to prospective employers. He also strssed how important the support of parents was and how welcome was any assistance that they can give to the Company. The photographs illustrate some of the highlights of the evening.

Bob Gardiner - an Appreciation. The following text appeared in the the Letters to the Editor section of the Falkirk Herald of 7th August 2008 Sir, I was saddened to read of the death of Bob Gardiner in last week's Falkirk Herald. Bob was a great friend to 1st Camelon Boys Brigade as a member, an officer, captain and loyal former member. Indeed this year's display was the first in a number of years that he had missed attending. Further testimony to the affection in which he held the BB can be seen in the Carronvale H.Q. on the plaque that acknowledges the donation he made toward the cost of its new games hall. For a man with such a crowded business and private life, he found time in the 1950s to return to 1st Camelon to become its captain and help steer it throgh a difficult time, proving the old adage, "if you want something done ask a busy man!". No visit to Bob's house by the officers of 1st Camelon was considered complete without viewing part of his wonderful collection of memorabilia of which he was so proud. The Company has lost a good friend as well as a generous benefactor. Janice Arbuckle
